Health and Safety Law Changes - What you need to know

The Health and Safety at Work Act 2015 is now effect from 4 April 2016.

Hospitality New Zealand supports good health and safety practice and encourages all commercial accommodation businesses to take time now to revise and improve existing health and safety processes to remain compliant under the new legislation.

The new law recognises that each business is best placed to know what it should do to meet its health and safety requirements. So looking at the day to day application of the new legislation you will need to focus on risk management as opposed to hazard avoidance in the workplace.

If you haven't already, now is the time to familiarise yourself with the new Health and Safety at Work Act 2015.

What can I do now?

If your business already has a strong commitment to health and safety, you are probably well placed ahead of the new legislation. Having said this, you should also take the time now to revise and improve your existing health and safety processes to remain compliant.

If you don’t have any health and safety processes in place, now is a good time to set these up. Members can call their Regional Manager on 0800 500 503 for assistance.
